Cycle Training Courses

Haddenham Cycle Training is running a series of training days and courses in 2011. The Level 2 courses are subsidised by Cycle Aylesbury. Most events are held in Haddenham, but some are held in Aylesbury or Thame.

 

Biking Basics for trainees aged 6 years+

This course is aimed at children aged 6 and over who can ride a bike without stabilisers. Entirely off road, this 3 hour foundation course takes place over two 1½ hour sessions. The course helps young children achieve some of the basic cycling control skills. All participants are awarded a Certificate and Biking Basics badge. The first session includes a bike and helmet safety check at the start. Advance bookings only. These sessions cost £20 per child. Parents do not need to stay during the sessions.

Bikeability Level 1 for trainees aged 7 years+

The training follows the Bikeability Level 1 Syllabus and is held off-road, in a school playground. Ideal for those aged 7 and over who can ride without stabilisers, but who would like to learn new skills and gain confidence. All participants are awarded a Certificate, and those who achieve the Level 1 standard are awarded the Bikeability Level 1 Badge. Each session lasts 3 hours, to include a bike and helmet safety check at the start. Advance bookings only. These sessions cost £25 per child. Parents do not need to stay during the session.

Training for Families

Family Cycle Training is based on the Bikeability Level 1 Syllabus. Participants are trained in family groups, so adults can support their children and learn new skills at the same time! We include advice on checking bikes, going for family cycle rides, and riding as a group. All participants are awarded a Certificate, and those who achieve the Level 1 standard are awarded the Bikeability Level 1 Badge. Each session lasts 3 hours, to include a bike and helmet safety check at the start. Advance bookings only. These sessions cost £10 per adult and £5 per child. Parents must stay with their children.

Bikeability Level 2 Training for trainees aged 9 years+

This course is aimed at participants who have achieved Bikeability Level 1 The training follows the Bikeability Level 2 Syllabus and is entirely on-road. Participants must have achieved Level 1 in order to take part and be at least 9 years old. The training is delivered in three sessions of 2-3 hours (the first session is longer to allow enough time for bike checks). Participants are expected to attend all three sessions. Cycle Aylesbury subsidises Level 2 training by £40 per trainee. The course costs £35 per person

Level 3 Cycle Training for secondary school pupils or adults

This course is aimed at participants who have achieved Bikeability Level 1 and Bikeability Level 2 and who wish to further develop their skills and confidence. The training follows the Bikeability Level 3 Syllabus and is entirely on-road. Participants must have achieved Level 1 and 2 in order to take part and be at secondary school (or adult). The course includes how to cycle safely on busier roads and includes roundabouts, filter lanes and traffic lights.. The training is delivered in three sessions of 2 hours. Participants are expected to attend all three sessions. Advance bookings only. The course costs £60 per person for three sessions.

How do I book a course?

1. Choose the event(s) you would like to attend.

2. Call 07907 794 633 or email info@haddenhamcycletraining/org.uk. giving us the full names of those attending, addresses, phone numbers, dates of birth of trainees, and any special needs or requirements that we need to be aware of, for example any medical conditions.

3. You will receive a letter of confirmation by e-mail, with Consent Forms for trainees and a Bike Check Sheet for you to use at home before the Training.

4. Return the Consent Form(s) to us by post, along with:

Money paid is fully refundable up to one month before the course starts or later if we are able to fill the place from our waiting list. Otherwise a 50% admin charge will be made and the balance refunded to you.

5. Please advise us in advance of you are unable to attend, so that we can offer places to those on the waiting list.
