Want to know more about our Gemstone cycle signs?
The signs show how long it will take you in minutes to cycle to your destination rather than showing the distance to your destination.
Here they are explained:
The signs show an estimate in minutes of the journey time based on the national average cycling speed. Obviously, if you’re a confident and experienced cyclist you will be able to do it faster.
Routes travelling in the direction of Aylesbury, particularly the Pebble Way from Stone and the Amber Way from Wendover, provide estimated cycling times to the border of Aylesbury.
Thereafter the signs show estimated cycling times from the border of Aylesbury into the town centre. This is to assist cyclists who cycle into Aylesbury, but don’t necessarily go into the town centre.
We are the first town in the UK to have cycle signage showing travel time and other parts of the country are looking to follow our lead.
Tell us what you think of our new signs. We’d love to hear from you. Email us at cycling@buckscc.gov.uk.
