Make 2008 your Year of Cycling

Isn't it time you joined the cycling revolution?

We think cycling is so great, we’re making 2008 an official Year of Cycling in Aylesbury. Since we became a Cycling Demonstration Town at the end of 2005, we've tripled the number of people cycling. Everyday, more and more people in Aylesbury realise just how great and convenient cycling is and take to their bikes.

Cycling is now a main mode of transport for over 10% of Aylesbury residents and the number of people cycling to work has also trebled. Everyone benefits; better health, better off and less congestion in our town. Come on, isn't it time you joined the revolution?

2008 is our final year as a Government showpiece cycling town and whilst we’ve achieved the Government’s target to increase cycling in Aylesbury already, we’re not stopping!

The 2008 Year of Cycling will be a festival of cycling aimed at getting even more people in Aylesbury on their bikes and enjoying the benefits and freedom that cycling brings. The programme will include Cycle with Confidence Camps, free cyclist training for children and families, school cycling initiatives, a cycling for health campaign, maps for each Gemstone Cycleway, Dr Bike and cycle security marking roadshows as well as competitions and promotions to win bikes and cycling accessories. We’ll also continue to improve facilities for cyclists in and around the town.

Keep checking our news and competition pages for details of events and promotions.

Get onboard this year. Get cycling and travel faster, get fitter and save money!
